4x9 Stories: this weekend
Each weekend the Manifesta 9 Mediation Department invites a number of special guests who give guided tours based on their own expertise. Whether it be a sociologist or a musician, a cook or a football player, one of our curators or one of the neighbours of our venue; each tour provides a new perspective on the exhibition.
Our guests this weekend / your hosts are:
Saturday July 28, 3pm, Anniek Nagels

Anniek Nagels, Member of the municipal executive responsible for Culture, youth and Students, City of Genk. After a period in which Genk had to process the closure of the mines and had to reflect on the possibilities of redeveloping the mine buildings the city is now investing strongly in culture and creative industries. This not without consequence, as the city recently won the Flemish Culture Prize for Local Cultural Policy.
Sunday July 29, 3pm, Kuai Shen

Kuai Shen's interdisciplinary artistic research approaches the self-organization in ants as a cybernetic system with emergent manifestations. At Manifesta 9 he presents 0h!m1gas an installation based on a “do-it-yourself” approach of bioacoustics and computer vision algorithms, measuring the vibratory sounds and mapping the activity of an ant colony and their relation to the artificial habitat where they live.
